LISGIS Joins National Celebration of International Women’s Day
The Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LISGIS) joined stakeholders across Liberia in commemorating International Women’s Day 2026 on Friday, March 6, at the Samuel Kanyan Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville.
The national celebration was organized by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, in collaboration with partners, under the theme “Give to Gain: Support Women for National Development.”
The theme highlights the importance of investing in women’s empowerment as a pathway to inclusive development and national progress. It also underscores the need for greater opportunities for women to participate in leadership, decision-making, and economic and social development.
LISGIS's participation reflects the institution's commitment to supporting inclusive and evidence-based national development and recognizing the important contributions of women across Liberia's social, economic, and institutional landscape.
As Liberia's national statistical institution, LISGIS also plays an important role in generating and disseminating data that can help policymakers and stakeholders understand gender-related issues and design interventions that respond to the needs of women and girls.
The observance provided an opportunity for stakeholders to reaffirm the importance of supporting women's leadership, participation, and contributions to national development.
