Percent distribution of HH non-farm enterprise managers by gender and stratum-HIES 2016

Findings from the HIES-2016 shows both the gender and the age distribution of the managers. The majority of managers are female (56.1% versus 43.8%) and are mostly (61.1%) between the ages of 25 and 44. The graph shows the gender and stratum division of managers. Most business managers (and hence businesses) are found in urban areas (58.9% versus 41.1%). The gender imbalance (i.e., the surplus of women managers) is significantly stronger in urban areas than in rural areas.

March 2022 Rate of Inflation

The Year-on-Year Inflation Rate as measured by the CPI was 9.51 Percent. This rate of inflation for March 2022 is the percentage change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) over the twelve months, from March 2021 to March 2022. In the nutshell, what the data depicts is that the general price level decreased by just 0.4 percent from March 2021 to March 2022. The month recorded a less than one percentage decrease from March 2021 to March 2022 (9.96 percent and 9.51 percent, respectively). The Month-on-Month Change for March 2022 was about 3 percent. Meanwhile, the Year-on-Year Inflation Rate for he month of February 2022 was 7.64 percent

Control over women’s earnings

Accoding to the LDHS 2019 , Women’s access to financial resources is a key mechanism for reducing poverty (SDG 1). To be empowered, women must have a stake in decision making about the use of their own earnings. Twenty-six percent of currently married women who have earnings mainly decide alone how their earnings are used, 63% decide jointly with their husbands, and 11% report that their husbands are the main decision maker. Among currently married women who are employed and have cash earnings, 11% earn more than their husbands, 13% earn about the same as their husbands, and 67% earn less than their husbands. Six percent of currently married women who earn cash say that their husbands do not have any cash earnings.

[ International Migration ]

Migration in and out of Liberia is mainly between Liberia and the ECOWAS states. The 2020 projection on regular flow of migrants in Liberia shows that 90.2% of inflows came from ECOWAS States. The least inflow was observed among North Americans (0.4%). The data also shows that 89.8% of Liberians move into ECOWAS States instead of other regions. The three most prominent reasons of ECOWAS citizens inflow into Liberia are Business (30.1%), Education (26.3%) and Work (16.0%).
