ECO-ICBT Assessment tour at the Liberia/Sierra Leone Border, Bo-Waterside
The Liberia Institute of Statistics and Geo-Information Services ( LISGIS) has taken a significant step by initiating Informal Border Trade Data Collection Activities. This effort aims to capture trade that often falls outside the formal regulatory framework, specifically goods and services that escape taxation and other official procedures set by the Liberia Government. Such Informal cross-border trade can go unrecorded or be inaccurately reflected in national Statistics. As part of this initiative, LISGIS’S Foreign Trade Unit collaborated with a delegation from the Economic Community of West African States, ( ECOWAS) to assess Cross-Border trade activities. On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, they conducted an observation tour at the Bo-Waterside Border, focusing on trade interactions between Liberia and Sierra Leone.
